# Via Sanctum Terms of Use

## 1. Agreement
These Terms of Use apply to your use of Via Sanctum, a Catholic study app with optional, controlled community event features, operated by Tony Kero in New South Wales, Australia.

By creating an account, accessing, or using Via Sanctum, you agree to these Terms of Use.

## 2. Eligibility
To use Via Sanctum:

- you must be at least 18 years old;
- you must create and use an authenticated account to access app content;
- you must provide reasonably accurate account information;
- you are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your login details secure.

Adults-only enforcement:
- accounts for users under 18 are not permitted;
- accounts for users under 16 are explicitly blocked;
- suspected underage accounts may be temporarily restricted during review;
- confirmed underage accounts may be removed;
- repeated underage signup attempts trigger a temporary device-level signup cooldown.

## 3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:

- harass, abuse, threaten, stalk, or impersonate others;
- share unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, exploitative, or violent content;
- post scams, malicious links, fraudulent events, or deceptive material;
- submit false or misleading host-application or event-listing information;
- attempt to bypass listing approval workflows or role restrictions;
- attempt unauthorised access, reverse engineering, scraping that harms the service, or service disruption;
- misuse reporting, moderation, or event features.

Via Sanctum may remove content, limit features, issue warnings, suspend accounts, or terminate access where reasonably necessary for safety, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or serious policy breaches.

## 4. Events and host verification
Via Sanctum Events are approval-based records.

- Roles are limited to `member`, `verified_host`, and an internal `admin` moderator role reserved for Via Sanctum moderation operations.
- Members may apply for verified-host status.
- Host verification is discretionary and may be approved, rejected, or suspended.
- Verified hosts may submit event listings, but submission does not guarantee publication.
- Event listings remain pending until manually reviewed by Via Sanctum's internal moderator-admin account.
- Via Sanctum's internal moderator-admin role may approve, reject, edit, unpublish, or remove event listings.
- Users are responsible for the accuracy of event details they submit.
- Via Sanctum does not supervise, control, or guarantee in-person events, venues, or attendee conduct.
- Users attend or participate in events at their own risk.
- Event, church, and site listings are provided for informational and devotional discovery purposes and do not necessarily imply endorsement, sponsorship, or official affiliation unless explicitly stated.

Current release clarification:
- The Events tab remains visible in the app, but event access stays disabled until the user enables `Account > Community > Enable Events`.
- Via Sanctum Events do not include in-app comments, event chat, direct messaging, reactions, or open public posting feeds.

## 5. Community and moderation
Via Sanctum includes moderation and safety systems around events, profiles, reports, and related account activity.

To support safety and policy enforcement:

- reports, reported content, associated account/activity metadata, and other material reasonably necessary for trust and safety handling may be reviewed for moderation and incident-response purposes;
- moderation actions may include warnings, content removal, listing removal/unpublish, muting, blocking, temporary restrictions, suspension, or permanent account action;
- where reasonably appropriate, access may be restricted while safety or underage concerns are reviewed.

For urgent safety concerns, use the in-app `Contact Safety Team` or `Safety report` flow where available, or email safety@viasanctum.app.

## 6. Content and licences
You retain ownership of content you submit to Via Sanctum.

By submitting content, you grant Via Sanctum a non-exclusive, revocable, limited licence to host, store, process, reproduce, and display that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the service.

You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights needed to submit any content you upload or share.

## 7. Service availability and changes
Via Sanctum may update, change, suspend, or remove features where reasonably necessary for maintenance, security, safety, legal compliance, product development, or service improvement.

While efforts may be made to keep the service available and reliable, uninterrupted or error-free operation is not guaranteed.

## 8. Scores, progress, and virtual features
Points, streaks, multipliers, game progress, rewards, and similar in-app features are virtual service features only.

They have no cash value and may be updated, rebalanced, reset, limited, or removed.

## 9. No subscriptions or paid plans
Via Sanctum currently does not offer paid subscriptions, recurring billing, or in-app paid memberships.

If paid features are introduced in future, pricing and billing terms will be published before those features become available.

## 10. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your account using the in-app delete account function or by contacting support.

Deleting your account removes access to the account and starts account-data deletion or cleanup processes, subject to limited retention where reasonably necessary for moderation records, fraud prevention, backups, legal compliance, and incident handling.

## 12. Liability and consumer rights
Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes, restricts, or modifies rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.

To the extent permitted by law, any liability relating to services supplied by Via Sanctum is limited to re-supply of the services or equivalent remedy.

## 13. Governing law
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and applicable Commonwealth laws of Australia.

## 15. Changes to these terms
These Terms of Use may be updated from time to time.

Continued use of Via Sanctum after updated terms take effect means you accept the revised terms. Where reasonably needed, Via Sanctum may require in-app re-acceptance of updated legal policies before continued account access.
